Down through history the true church of Jesus has been hi-jacked time after time by people with their own agenda which has nothing to do with Jesus and His teachings. Jesus lived a simple life. First as a carpenter and then as a preacher travelling the length of Israel. He healed those who were ill but reprimanded the religious leaders of the day. He gave His life on the cross to save all who will believe in Him. Yet ever since , although there have always been the few who have truly followed in His footsteps, there have always been the many who have built luxurious lives for themselves, and positions of grandeur claiming to be His followers They have also waged war in His name for their own ends. We should always beware of the religious who are proud of their position in the church . They claim to follow Jesus who was meek and lowly, but they are proud and love to be at the top of society. He healed the sick but they won’t give a coin to the beggar in the street. He taught us to love our enemies, but they invest in war.
In Britain there used to be several Bible colleges who gave good training for men who wanted to be leaders in local churches, but then they were tempted by the thought of giving their students degrees. This meant linking up with universities. This was not a good idea because the universities stipulated what the curriculum should be and all sorts of bad influences crept in. After all British universities are not the most God fearing places, in fact most of them are atheist. When this mixing of belief and unbelief happens it is belief that gets swamped out of the picture. And so where you once had a Bible believing college, training it’s students to take their teaching from the Bible alone, you now have teaching in how not to believe the Bible. A simple literal treatment of the Bible which is easy to understand, which you can accept or not, but at least you know what you are accepting or rejecting, is replaced by a system that casts doubt on the authenticity and authority of the Bible.
