I have told you before to use your brain. The most dangerous thing people can do is to accept what they are told by others, especially in authority, as this can lead to being led blindly down a no through road. Always question what you are told. Make sure you get it right. Of course that also applies to what I tell you. Anyone who knows anything about Jesus knows that He would not be in favour of consumerism, gluttony and teaching our children to want more and more things. So why are we doing this and pretending it is to honour Him? Let's look at the Bible record of His birth, which is of course very important. The main feature is that He was born of a virgin ( who incidentally did not remain a virgin, but had at least seven more children, all documented in the Bible.) He was and is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father and the Spirit. So when was He born? No competent shepherd keeps his sheep out on the hills in Bethlehem at this time of the year, so that's the end of December 25th being the date. This date to celebrate the birth of Jesus was created by the Catholic church because it was near pagan festivals and they hoped to wean people to "christianity" by making them feel they had not lost a feast time. For a long time the "churches" have been trying to make people feel comfortable in their buildings, by having fun events. The church is meant to proclaim the true message of Jesus as it is, not attract people with no commitment. Now we come to one more very important fact, Jesus never told us to remember His birth, but His death and this we should do as christians as we eat the Lord's supper, probably two or three times a month. Yes, remember His death on the cross for all who will put their trust in Him. So you see it is most important that you think for yourself and don't just follow the crowd. Crowd followers make dictators. Crowd followers never find the truth. Don't be a crowd follower.
When something very nasty comes our way we can only take in some much of the horror of the situation and then our minds protect us by putting us into a state of denial. It's all very well sitting cozy in the middle of a storm, but by doing that you can put others at risk. It is tempting to think that the corona virus situation is not real and won't touch you and your family, to think that somehow the heads of state who appeared so lately to be at loggerheads are in fact manufacturing the whole thing for their own purposes. Just see how the mind wants to divert us from the awful truth. Do you realize we could be on the point of the total collapse of civilization? That's why people panic buy because inside they realize food production and distribution could break down. Of course the little store they have been able to stash away will not last long. Deny us our food and we turn into much nastier human beings, well no that's the way we always were but this brings out...
