Hello Excuse my bad Russian language, but I want to write to new people.  Many people in the West do not believe in God even though they have been blessed with good things and happy lives.  I want to speak to you about the love of Jesus Christ.  I first knew Jesus Christ when I was a child.  When I was seven I began to read the Bible. It is only in the Bible that we can find out about Jesus.  In the Bible we read, "Jesus said to him, " I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through...

The Cull

The gamekeeper looked over the moorland with a keen eye at the herd of deer grazing happily.   Of course he was not their owner, he had gone on a long journey, but he had been gone so long that the gamekeeper, whose name was Godred   Selfishman, had for some time come to see himself as the owner of the deer and as the best person to fashion the herd according to his own desire. He had forgotten that the owner had a special affinity with each individual deer.   He knew them all by name and they would come to him when he called. They were precious each one and woe betide anyone who would hurt any of his deer. Once Godred had known all this but over the years he had forgotten. He looked at the herd in the valley eating grass and flicking their ears.   They were content, unsuspecting. He had told the neighbouring farmers, “There are too many deer; they are eating your crops.” Unlike most farmers these did not think for themselves, they did not remember that the...

The Mortality Rate

“In this life nothing is certain but death and taxes” to quote Mark Twain. Most of the time we manage to go through life thinking we have many good years to come. We forget that the mortality rate is 100 per cent. We are so shocked when we lose a loved one. Even in today’s circumstances we can fool ourselves into thinking that the Coronavirus won’t touch us. Death is not something we should turn our backs on, we should prepare for death. The Bible says” It is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment “ A time is coming when we will be held to account for how we have lived our lives. We are required to be totally perfect. That is God’s standard. How on earth can any of us live up to that. The holy God who set the standard has made a way for us to be perfect. If we put our trust in Jesus we will be clothed in His robe of righteousness and then “accepted in the beloved” But if you try to be good enough on your own you will fail and also be insulting God who has given His ...

You don't miss it until you haven't got it!!

Can you now see what an easy life we had before corona virus? That is, most of us in the developed world.  How we grumbled about our lives and wanted more.  Bigger homes, bigger cars, bigger salaries.  Now we are brought up with a huge jolt.  Now we have to start appreciating what we still have.  We might be having to find different sources for our groceries but there is still plenty of food available. Because we are in isolation we are finding the telephone and other technologies are a lifeline in keeping in contact with our friends.  I have a piano pupil.  Obviously I cannot have her for lessons in my house, but it's amazing what we can do on Skype and with time on her hands she is doing more piano practice. Human beings can be very resourceful.  Unfortunately not always in the best ways.  I heard on the radio that a doctor had been mugged at a cash machine.  We human beings are sinful, fallen people and need to turn away from sin and ...

Tesco Online

I feel like the man in the Bible who sat by a pool waiting for the water to be stirred as at that point the first person to get to the pool was healed of whatever ailment he had.  Of course the lame man didn't have a chance of getting in the pool first. This evening I waited up to get a slot for a Tesco delivery.  The system jammed and by the time it had cleared at 7 minutes past midnight, all the slots had been taken.  I am not distraught because just as the lame man had Jesus come along and heal him, even so is Jesus my Saviour and has the perfect plan for my life and whatever that plan is, even if it means hardship or even death, I know that He is with me each step I take.

Denial Over Corona Virus

When something very nasty comes our way we can only take in some much of the horror of the situation and then our minds protect us by putting us into a state of denial.  It's all very well sitting cozy in the middle of a storm, but by doing that you can put others at risk.  It is tempting to think that the corona virus situation is not real and won't touch you and your family, to think that somehow the heads of state who appeared so lately to be at loggerheads are in fact manufacturing the whole thing for their own purposes.  Just see how the mind wants to divert us from the awful truth. Do you realize we could be on the point of the total collapse of civilization? That's why people panic buy because inside they realize food production and distribution could break down.  Of course the little store they have been able to stash away will not last long. Deny us our food and we turn into much nastier human beings, well no that's the way we always were but this brings out...

What is really Important in Life and Death?

I haven't written here since 2017. Early in 2018 I moved house and with the turmoil of that I put my pen away.  It has taken the world disaster of the corona virus to tempt me back.  As I am over seventy and living in Britain I am quarantined at present.  Of course, this means I have plenty of time to come back to my blog. How did you react to the news? Did you panic and buy vast quantities of loo rolls? Haven't you heard of soap and warm water?  That will do the job nicely! Buying mountains of food just leads to waste. At first I was very anxious about the situation, but once I reminded myself that God, as ever, is in control no matter what privations we have to go through.  In fact God is saying to us that all those things we thought were so precious to us are meaningless if we have left Him out of our lives. Now He has given us lots and lots of time to ponder what really matters in life and that is our relationship with God which can only happen in and throug...
