When something very nasty comes our way we can only take in some much of the horror of the situation and then our minds protect us by putting us into a state of denial. It's all very well sitting cozy in the middle of a storm, but by doing that you can put others at risk. It is tempting to think that the corona virus situation is not real and won't touch you and your family, to think that somehow the heads of state who appeared so lately to be at loggerheads are in fact manufacturing the whole thing for their own purposes. Just see how the mind wants to divert us from the awful truth. Do you realize we could be on the point of the total collapse of civilization? That's why people panic buy because inside they realize food production and distribution could break down. Of course the little store they have been able to stash away will not last long. Deny us our food and we turn into much nastier human beings, well no that's the way we always were but this brings out the truth. Of course there are always heroes too who literally give their lives for others. This will be true of our medical staff. I also want to mention a group of essential workers who have not been given the praise they deserve, the farmers without whom there would be no food in the stores.
So is there light at the end of the tunnel. It may be a very long tunnel. What will all this deprivation do to you? It will either send you to your knees to ask for God's mercy or it will harden you against Him and you will with one breath deny His existence and with another blame Him for all that is happening, a completely illogical thing to do.But if you do indeed find God in this extreme situation you will see it as the best thing that ever happened to you. That is how wonderful it is to know God.
