So in the last Hi-jacker post I spoke about people claiming to be followers of Jesus, who proved themselves not to be by their actions. Did Jesus wear gorgeous robes? No. He did have a robe which the soldiers at the cross didn't want to spoil by dividing it up, but it was not encrusted in jewels and stitched with gold thread. Was He impressed by the temple? He said that the religious leaders had made it a den of thieves and that in a few years' time it would be demolished. So why do people build enormous cathedrals? They say it is for the glory of God, but I don't think God is interested in the wealth and power that is needed to build them. He comes to the humble of heart. Although christians need to come together to encourage each other it is in the secret place of the individual heart that God looks for His praise. So pomp and circumstance have no place in the christians life. Instead we are told to walk humbly in God's presence. That's sounds straightforward but it is actually one of the hardest things to do.
When something very nasty comes our way we can only take in some much of the horror of the situation and then our minds protect us by putting us into a state of denial. It's all very well sitting cozy in the middle of a storm, but by doing that you can put others at risk. It is tempting to think that the corona virus situation is not real and won't touch you and your family, to think that somehow the heads of state who appeared so lately to be at loggerheads are in fact manufacturing the whole thing for their own purposes. Just see how the mind wants to divert us from the awful truth. Do you realize we could be on the point of the total collapse of civilization? That's why people panic buy because inside they realize food production and distribution could break down. Of course the little store they have been able to stash away will not last long. Deny us our food and we turn into much nastier human beings, well no that's the way we always were but this brings out...
